A TRIBUTE TO A FALLEN FRIEND

On January 15th, 2010 we lost a great icon who was a fixture at the Bexar County Courthouse calling deed foreclosures to investors as a trustee. For the past 16 years Kathleen's bellowing voice could be heard above the crowd noise despite all the other yelling going on around her.

If you have ever been to one of these foreclosure sales, you understand the chaos of an open air foreclosure sale. Hundreds of people packing around the trustee's straining to hear the property calls and then yelling out the bids. Back and forth it would go until a winning bidder was declared.

When I started attending the foreclosure sales in 2001, she was the only Trustee who was helpful and willing to answer any questions I posed even though she didnt have to.Kathleen had a knack of making one feel easy and comfortable, even though she didnt know you. As an investor, I always appreciated her approachability and friendly manner.

Over the years, I watched her do her calls and could always point her out in a crowd. I can picture her now standing in a crowd of people who huddled around her listening to the property calls, She had to deal with a lot of weirdness but she did it with elegance and grace. After the sale was over, I would go over to her and her husband Gilbert and chat a while as she completed her paperwork. Kathleen was a pleasure to be around.

She will be missed on the first tuesday of each month. I, for one, feel that I have lost a friend and will look to that special place where she always stood to make her calls, knowing she will never be there again.. For those of you who never met her, I think you missed out on a special person. For those of you who did, take a moment to remember what we have lost.

To her family I offer my deepest condolences and hope the pain of your loss is masked by the happiness of the memories she left. She cannot be forgotten.
