ATTENTION
IMPORTANT NEW
INFORMATION REGARDING THE ELIGIBILITY OF PERSONS TO PURCHASE PROPERTY
AT TEXAS TAX SALES, AS PROVIDED BY HOUSE BILL 335, PASSED BY THE 78TH
REGULAR SESSION OF THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE:
Beginning with Texas Tax
Sales conducted on or after October 1, 2003, purchasers at tax sales must
present to the sheriff conducting the sale a written certification statement
issued to the purchaser by the county tax assessor-collector. This written
certification states that on current properties owned by the purchaser,
there are no delinquent taxes due to the county or any school district
or city with territory in the county. House Bill 335 further prohibits
the sheriff or constable from delivering a tax deed to any purchaser who
fails to present to the office the required statement issued by the county
tax assessor-collector.

The above new law is effective
with the October 7th, 2003 Sheriff's Tax Sale.

In order to be eligible to
bid at these Tax auctions, one must complete the correct form which
can be obtained from The Office of the Tax Assessor-Collector, Sylvia
Romo at 233 N. Pecos, Suite 224 or call 210-335-6574 for more information.
The fee is $16.

On the form, a potential bidder
must list all current property owned in Bexar County including legal
description.

On the form, a potential bidder
must also list previously owned Bexar County property and provide
proof of sale.

This form will then be notarized
by the county and a search will be done to verify no property taxes
are delinquent or owed to the county. This process takes generally
about 2 weeks.

Upon confirmation, the county
will provided a notarized written statement certifying no debt for
delinquent property taxes.

The potential bidder must
then provide to the Sheriff's Office, the certified written statement,
the week prior to the auction or the monday before the auction to
be eligible to participate and bid. The Sheriff's Office has moved
and is now located at 827 Frio Road @ Ruiz St., San Antonio, Texas.

This Written Certification
Statement is valid for 90 days and then must be re-certified.

A Certified Bidder may no
longer sign up the day of the auction.

Winning Bidders may not place
any name on the Sheriff's Deed other then their own.
